Charlie Farrell's participation in La Verne Fire Department's Christmas Day tradition began as a command performance, but it has continued as a labor of love for 42 years.

"When I first came to California from Brooklyn, I got a job mowing lawns, and I didn't even have a lawn of my own. Working for the city of La Verne was great because employees are so committed to community.
