Thousands Back Clemency for Crips Co-Founder

SAN FRANCISCO Attorneys for Stanley Tookie Williamson Monday urged Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for the second timeto cancel the Crips co-founder's upcoming Dec. 13 execution andsubmitted what they said were signatures of 32,000 peoplesupporting the clemency request.

The lawyers told the governor that Williams, who has beennominated for a Nobel Peace Prize five times while on death rowat San Quentin State Prison, could do more for society alivethan dead. They said Williams, 51, is no longer a gang memberand has not committed an infraction in prison since 1993.
