SAN BERNARDINO - The 69-year-old man suspected of shooting his estranged lover in the head on Sunday in Rancho Cucamonga surrendered here Wednesday night to authorities.

James Melvin Vermillion walked into the San Bernardino County sheriff's headquarters about 6:45 p.m., said Arden Wiltshire, sheriff's spokeswoman. Vermillion was accompanied by family members and his attorney.
