Representatives with the state Department of Health Services spelled out the reasons Monday behind the citation it issued the Jurupa Community Service District last month., The details surrounding the citation -- including high nitrate levels in the water, the district's failure to notify its customers and the insufficiency of water samples submitted -- provided little new information but did give clarification straight from the source. Some directors and members of the public called for the department's presentation after dissatisfaction and confusion with former General Manager Carole McGreevy's written explanation for the August citation, Director R.M. "Cook" Barela said.

"I asked for a report of what happened from McGreevy and she had Charlie (Smith, operations manager) give a summary of what happened," Barela said. "But the public had a lot of questions and Charlie wasn't given accurate information.
