Children are what and who they are around. If they are around people they trust and love, they will become trusting and loving. For them to be around people who fit that position, the people must be around them. If they are not, the children will be around whomever else is left. If there is no one in their neighborhood to teach them that loyalty to their community is a good thing, then they will give their loyalty to neighborhood bullies and gang members.

We as family members must stop denying or excusing behaviors and choices our loved ones make that we know are not positive or safe choices, or worst yet, refuse to admit that they are doing anything wrong.
