Millions of Southlanders will likely be staying in town for the Fourth of July, as travel on the national holiday is expected to slide 2.7 percent from last year, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California.

Given the country's sluggish economy and the state's unemployment rate hitting an all-time high of 11.5 percent in May, it's really no surprise that more Californians this year are expected to celebrate July 4 in the backyard pool.
