RANCHO CUCAMONGA - Michel Simard took a shutout into the seventh inning and Brandon Wood hit his 20th home run as Rancho Cucamonga held off High Desert, 4-3, at the Epicenter on Sunday.

Simard (3-5) maintained his shutout until he was replaced by Quakes manager Ty Boykin in the seventh after he walked Mavericks second baseman Wally Sevilla with two outs and the bases empty.
