Protecting Your Right to Know

Summary


Our democracy relies on a free and independent media to provide a check on government. To do so, it's sometimes necessary to protect the relationship between journalists and their confidential sources.

Yet the Senate Judiciary Committee last week delayed a vote on a proposed federal shield law for journalists that would guard the public's right to learn important information regarding their government. The committee is scheduled to consider the measure again today, and we urge Sen. Dianne Feinstein to vote for it.
