ALBACORE: Albacore action continues to slow, with just fair fishing on the best days. High winds up to 30 knots have been the culprit. Winds began calming down Wednesday with gusts merely up to 15 knots expected. Weather should improve over the weekend. Anglers on one-, 1 1/2-, and two-day boats continue to see the best fishing. There are two distinct grades of fish from 20 to 30 pounds on the smaller end and 30 to 40 pounds on the bigger end. The Sea Adventure, H&M Landing, had 200 albacore on a two-day trip for 20 anglers. When most boats were scratching away for 20 to 40 fish the Legend from Seaforth Sportfishing has been staying on top of the biting fish by scoring 80 albacore Tuesday.
YELLOWTAIL: Yellowtail are being seen in good numbers off of the front side of San Clemente. The fish are there and are feeding, but boats have not made any significant catches yet. There are also a lot of yellowtail in the channel off of Newport hanging under kelp. These are excellent signs of good fishing yet to come this summer.See the full content of this document

BLUEFIN TUNA: Bluefin to 80 pounds continue to be scattered in with the albacore anywhere from 40 to 100 miles from San Diego. Boats have been averaging one to three fish a trip. When albacore fishing, bring a rod rigged with 40- to 60-pound line to fish a sardine on if the bluefin happen to pop up. Bluefin tuna traditionally bite on the backside of a full moon.
BARRACUDA: Huge schools of barracuda continue to roam the beaches from Newport to Long Beach. Most boats are making a mixed catch of bass and barracuda. A few boats have limited on sand bass early and chased the schools of bigger barracuda. Many are weighing from six to nine pounds.
