Middle Schoolers Play College Coeds for a Day

Summary


More than 130 middle school girls from Ontario got a taste of college - and they liked it.

In 2005, the U.S. Department of Education awarded the Alpha Center at UC Riverside a $482,000 grant to develop a program highlighting the importance of mathematics-based careers for middle- school girls. The college created Project ISIS (I Strive I Succeed) and partnered with Vina Danks, Ray Wiltsey and De Anza middle schools in Ontario giving them a chance to participate in the Coed for A Day event held on Jan. 27, along with several other college- centered activities.
