UPLAND - For a newly registered 18-year-old, voting for the first time may be scary.
But to help calm the nerves of Upland High School seniors set to vote today, government and economics teachers on Monday held a simulated election in the library. "Research has shown one of the two rea sons why young people don't vote is they are unfamiliar with the system," government teacher Katherine Kinsey said. "They're not prepared, so they're nervous.
