Pairing the Right Wines with Maine Lobster
Did you know August is Maine Lobster Month? Neither did I, but thanks to an invite from friends of the vine, Barbra and Mark Comunale of Claremont, I find myself on the shore of beautiful Hancock Pond (one of over 3,000 ponds and lakes statewide) surrounded by tall pines, oaks and ash trees, doing my part to help promote Maine's iconic shellfish, "lob-stah" as the Mainers say!

L.A. County Fair Extended by Five Days
An expanded run, $1 admission specials for the entire Labor Day weekend, animatronic dinosaurs, Bark Park demonstrations by the Splash Dogs rescue stunt squad, exotic and farm animals, forays into a kelp forest and shark shack and entertaining entertainers are among highlights of the 2009 L.A. County Fair, opening Saturday and continuing through Oct. 4. This year's fair will be 23 days instead of 18 days.
