Police Arrest Pair After Short Pursuit

RANCHO CUCAMONGA - A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and evading police and his 43-year-old passenger was arrested on suspicion of giving alcohol to the driver and being drunk in public. The younger man was identified as Rikki Babb of Rancho Cucamonga. The older man, was identified as Rudy Rivas, also of Rancho Cucamonga.

Pearl Harbor Remembered

NORCO - Silence filled the conference room at the Naval Surface Warfare Center slightly after 9:55 a.m. Friday morning. It marked the day 66 years ago, to the minute, that Pearl Harbor was attacked.

Road Reconfiguration

ONTARIO - Anyone who has entered or exited the 10 Freeway at Fourth Street knows the interchange is awkward, outdated and far too short and narrow. The City Council recently moved to improve the situation by initiating preliminary studies for a new interchange at Grove Avenue, reconfiguring the one at Fourth and widening Grove from four to six lanes from the freeway to Holt Boulevard.

Pottery Exhibit Opens Today

POMONA - A collection of 48 pieces by Mississippi potter George E. Ohr opens today at the American Museum of Ceramic Arts in Pomona. Ohr is known for his abstract pottery, according to a statement from the museum. His unconventional style, which he began to work on during the mid-1890s, was not understood by critics during his lifetime.

Rancho Wants to Explore Options for Emergency Communication Services

RANCHO CUCAMONGA - City officials want to shop around for emergency call center services to see if they can find something better than their current contract with Ontario's communications center. At a recent special session, City Council voted unanimously for a policy that includes a request for a qualifications process, allowing city officials to seek agencies that provide emergency communications. The request for a qualifications process would take place at the end of the fiscal year in June.
